What’s the Difference Between Viagra and Cialis?

What’s the difference between Sildenafil (generic for Viagra) and Tadalafil (generic for Cialis)?

Sildenafil (Viagra) and Tadalafil (Cialis) are both used to treat Erectile Dysfunction. However, they differ in a few key ways. Ultimately, it really comes down to which medication fits into your sex life. Read on to see which one is the right fit for you.

Sildenafil (Viagra) takes effect quickly but also wears off sooner

Sildenafil (Viagra) is meant to be taken an hour or so before you plan to have sex and generally lasts for 4-5 hours. With that in mind, Viagra is ideal if you know when you’re going to have sex. One thing to keep in mind is that Sildenafil (Viagra) can be affected by food and may take longer to start working, especially if taken with a high-fat meal. Tadalafil (Cialis), on the other hand, is not affected by food intake.

Tadalafil (Cialis) lasts longer & helps you “stay ready”

If you’re not as inclined to schedule your sex life, Tadalafil (Cialis) might be a better fit for you. Although Tadalafil (Cialis) takes a little longer to take effect (up to two hours), it lasts for 24-36 hours, so you’ll be ready for anything. But don’t worry—that doesn’t mean that you’ll stay hard for the full 24-36 hours. Rather, you’ll have the ability to get an erection when you need it. Some men prefer taking a small dose of Tadalafil on a daily basis to “stay ready” while minimizing any potential side effects.
